Canada's major airline is Air Canada. It is the 11th largest passenger airline of the world in terms of fleet size. It was founded in the year 1937. Air Canada was previously known as Trans-Canada Airlines. It was established on April 10, 1937 as a subsidiary of Canadian National Railway (CNR). The passenger operations began in the same year. The airline company has passenger aircraft as well as cargoes aircraft. By the year 1964, Air Canada became the country's most important airline.
Air Canada became totally privatized in the year 1989. It is also the founding member of Star Alliance which was established on 14th May in the year 1997. Another feather in the cap of Air Canada was added when it acquired Canadian Airlines in the year 2001.

It has already given orders for 3 Boeing 777-200LR, 6 Boeing 777-300ER, 37 Boeing 787-8, 15 Embraer 175, 38 Embraer 190.

Air Canada Jazz, which is a subsidiary of Air Canada, has a fleet size of 132 aircraft. It has 32 Bombardier CRJ 200ER, 25 Bombardier CRJ 100ER, 15 Bombardier CRJ, 34 Bombardier Dash 8 100/200 and 26 Bombardier Dash 8 300. Only executive class is available.
