China Airlines is the most prominent airline company of Taiwan. It is not owned by the state. It is under the China Aviation Development Foundation. The foundation belongs to the government of Republic of China (Taiwan).
China Airlines has its main hub at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, with headquarters in Taipei. The secondary hub of the airline is at Kaohsiung International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport.
The airline company was set up on 10th December, 1959. It started operation in the same year. The shares of this company are held by the Government of Republic of China (Taiwan). It was established by a retired air force officer.

At the initial stage the airline company used to provide charter services. Later on, in 1960s the first domestic service of the airline commenced with a flight from Taipei to Hualien. The first international was to Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam. Flights to San Francisco commenced on 2nd February in the year 1970. With time the company continues to grow and routes to different destinations were opened.
The airline company got listed in the Taiwan Stock Exchange in the year 1993.
The fleet of China Airlines consists of 20 Boeing 747-400F, 16 Airbus A330-300, 15 Boeing 747-400, 11 Boeing 737-800 and 6 Airbus A340-300. First class is only available in Boeing 747-400. All the other aircrafts of China Airlines has Dynasty and Economy class.
The average age of the aircrafts of China Airlines is 5.1 years. The company is in expansion mode and plans to buy various other aircrafts.

A latest entertainment system known as Fantasy Sky is available in A340-300, A330-300 and B747-400. China Airlines has two in-flight magazines known as Dynasty and Sky Couch.
