Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport or Ahmedabad Airport is the seventh busiest airport of the nation with an average of 100 aircraft movements a day. It serves the metropolitan area of the city of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. It is named after the former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It also serves as a secondary hub for SpiceJet, Air Deccan and Kingfisher Airlines. The airport is served by three International carriers and various domestic carriers. Ahmedabad Airport consists of the International Terminal and the Domestic Terminals. Although both the terminals use the same airside facilities but are physically separated on the landside. The distance of separation between them requires a five-minute drive.. The airport has 7 parking bays and another 30 bays are under construction.

Currently the Ahmedabad Airport is undergoing colossal renovation on both the domestic and the international terminals. A new domestic departure terminal was opened in last December and a new domestic arrival terminal is also under construction. On completion of these terminals there would be aero-bridges in the premises of the airport that would provide direct access to the aircraft from the terminal.
