Bangalore Airport, covering an area of nearly 4050 acres finds its location in Devanahalli. This international airport in India stands just thirty kilometers away from the city of Bangalore. In the month of July in 2005, the construction of this airport set in. It is hoped that within the first half of the year of 2008, all constructions of Bangalore Airport will be over and flight operations will commence.

It has been planned that the name of this Bangalore Airport will initially be Bangalore International Airport. After the Bangalore Airport coming into action, it will be entitled to handle the commercial flights which, at present, are operating from the Hal Airport.



As there is an international airport in Hyderabad, that is now under construction, Bangalore Airport has become a part of the race of becoming the next as one of the international airports of India.



So far as the plan of the Bangalore Airport is concerned, it includes almost everything, beginning from the flight catering to the food beverages and restaurants in the premises of the airport. The Bangalore Airport will be having one runway, and cares are being taken so that the runway that is being built, will be capable of handling all kinds of domestic, international and cargo aircrafts. It has also been planned that a second runway will be built when the flow of traffic in a year reaches 18 million. Logical estimations reveal that it will not before 2013 that the Bangalore Airport will need the second runway.

The construction of Bangalore Airport, including the premises and the immediate surroundings, will demand nearly 1930.29 crores. There will be shopping areas including a shoppers' stop and Hypercity Hypermart. A cafe and a restaurant will be run by the Cafe Coffee Day, that will serve food and beverages. As a result, not only the arriving and the departing passengers, but also the persons who come to receive or see off the passengers, will be facilitated.

The domestic airlines that will be operating in Bangalore Airport are Air India, Go Air, Indigo Aorlines, Jet Airways, Jet Lite, Kingfisher Airlines, Paramount Airways, Simplifly Deccan and SpiceJet. The list of International airlines to be operating in the Airport in Bangalore includes Air Arabia, Air India, British Airways, Gulf Airways, Singapore Airlines, Nok Air, Thai Airways International, SriLankan Airlines and Malaysia Airlines. Cargo airlines like Air France Cargo, Qatar Airways Cargo, Thai Airways Cargo, Singapore Airlines Cargo, EmiratesSky Cargo, Blue Dart Aviation are expected to be operating in Bangalore Airport.
