Cochin Airport is also known as Cochin International Airport, Kochi International Airport or Nedumbassery Airport. Nedumbassery, is a town near Kochi in India. The airport is built in traditional architectural style of Kerala and is owned by Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL). This is the first international airport in India to be built with only a minority, that is 13 per cent, Central Government stake in a public-private partnership (PPP) project. The total government stake, state and central combined only to 26 per cent. The Cochin Airport is located about 30 km from the central city area of Kochi.Its location near tourist areas and the availability of undeveloped land near the location provides opportunity for growth of this region. This has helped to make it the busiest airport in Kerala.

The runway of Cochin Airport is about 3,400-metre long.With a runway, the airport is equipped to operate any type of aircraft currently in commercial service. At present this is the fourth busiest airport in India in terms of international traffic. There are 464 services in the domestic sector and 314 services in the international sector in Kochi per week. Besides Mumbai and Delhi Kochi is currently one of the few Indian airports, which is capable of handling the Airbus 380. Construction of a new international terminal area with duty free shops has been completed recently. Cochin International Airport has direct non-stop international flights to Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Colombo, Dammam, Bandar Abbas, Doha, Kuwait, Dubai, Muscat, Sarah, and Singapore. It is also linked with Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Mumbai, Agatti, Coimbatore, Thiruvanathapuram, Hyderabad and Bangalore by domestic flights.
